Eileen C. Stelpflug, age 90, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 26, 1928, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Ertz) Muench. Eileen was united in marriage to Cletus W. Stelpflug at St. Clement Church in Lancaster on November 4, 1947. Together they farmed for many years in South Lancaster, Hurricane, and Little Grant Townships, retiring in 1975, and moving to Lancaster. Eileen loved gardening and enjoyed working with flowers. Cletus and Eileen enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and traveling. Eileen especially enjoyed her grandchildren and got to be known as the "Cookie Grandma." Eileen devoted a lot of her time to St. Clement Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Rita #670, assisted with funeral luncheons, and the annual fall festival.
She is survived by her children: David (Shirley) Stelpflug and Diane (Ron) VanNatta; her grandchildren: Vicki (Steve) Mueller, Greg (Jennifer) VanNatta, Michelle (Brian) Daniels, Allen (Wendy) Stelpflug, and Brian (Sara) Stelpflug; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Leo (Betty) , Robert (Joanne) , and Marie Stelpflug; and many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus, on April 22, 2007; her parents; her siblings: Leo (Helen), Gerald, Carl (Bernice) and Donald (Madelyn) Muench, and Marcella (LeRoy) Peterson; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Cyril (Mary Ellen) and Harold Stelpflug, and Jeanette (Gene) Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, rural Lancaster. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, where a 2:45 p.m. rosary will be prayed. Friends may also call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Eileen C. Stelpflug Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
