Edward R. "Ed" Breitsprecker, Sr., age 73, of Potosi, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was born on February 12, 1941, in rural Dubuque, IA, the son of Henry and Frances (Buchholtz) Breitsprecker. On April 29, 1961, Ed was united in marriage to Fern B. Daughetee at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA. After their marriage, Ed was employed at Dubuque Packing Company for five years and later was employed with John Deere Works in Dubuque for thirty years. He also farmed and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and playing cards.

Survivors include his children: Wanda Zinsmaster; Joyce Walter; Carol (Tom) Hughey; Ed (Amy) Breitsprecker; Joe (Veronica) Breitsprecker; Tom (Wanda) Breitsprecker; and Bob (Kelly) Breitsprecker; thirteen grandchildren: Stephanie, David (Katie), Nick (Allie), Shannon, Daniel, Eric, Kelsey, Brandon, Matthew, Avarie, Gracie, Ethan and Gina (Ryan); four great-grandchildren: Jaydon, Kyle, Khloe, and Ansen; his siblings: Harold (Jean), Hank (Chris), and Lavon McKeon; Donna Farley; sisters-in-law: Julie, Eloise, and Sue Breitsprecker.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Fern, Ed was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Walter; his siblings: Gerald, Fritz, Ray, and Irene Graves; brothers-in-law, Jake Graves and Donald McKeon; and Bob Farley.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Burton Town Hall, Burton. Burial will be at a later date in Burton Cemetery, Burton. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is assisting the family.
