Earl L. Donaldson, age 90, of Beetown, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born on June 18, 1923, the son of Lester and Armel (Halstead) Donaldson. Earl enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. On June 8, 1944, he was united in marriage to Pauline Thorpe. Earl was from a family of carpenters that could do everything from plumbing, building, to laying brick. He was instrumental in working for the state of Wisconsin helping build Stonefield Historic Site in Cassville. Earl was a member of the Beetown United Methodist Church and Taylor Thorpe American Legion Post No. 551. He was proud that with the help of his father and brothers to have built their family home that they resided in their entire lives.

Survivors include his children: Etta (Forest) Slaght; Dick (Marsha) Donaldson; grandchildren: Jennifer (David) Murphy; Lisa (Matt) Millin; Jenny (John) McCartney; Joe Hendricks; Breanna Donaldson; great-grandchildren: Paige, Ian, Holden Murphy; Nathan, Olivia, Cooper Millin; Braden, Payson McCartney; Davin Noethe; Max Hendricks; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline in 2007; sisters: Evelyn Donaldson, Pearl Adrian; brothers, Reggie, Harold, Francis, and Paul Donaldson.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Beetown United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was at Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville in serving the family.
