Douglas B. Pluemer, age 63, from Dubuque, Iowa formerly of Potosi, Wisconsin, passed away, Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at his home. He was born on January 12, 1958, the son of Gerald and Joyce (Kemper) Pluemer. He graduated from Potosi High School. After high school, he drove a semi-truck for many years, which is how he earned the nickname “Diesel Doug.” In 2015, he proudly opened Massey Fisherman’s Wharf which he owned and operated. He loved meeting people from all walks of life and welcomed all who walked through his doors. As he would say after every event at the Wharf, “I tip my hat to you all”.
Surviving are his daughter Kathryn (Jake) Symmonds, his son Benjamin (Alex) Pluemer, his grandchildren: Maeve and Freya Symmonds and Elena and Nora Pluemer; his siblings: Denise (Joe) Ploessl, Constance (Pete) Simon, Christine (Dan) Motl, Jeffery Pluemer, Thomas(Tara) Pluemer, Tamara (Mike) Schmitz; sister-in-laws: Pat Francis and Shelly Pluemer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Gerald and Joyce Pluemer, and siblings: Gerald Pluemer Jr, Karen Eveland, Michael Pluemer, and Daniel Pluemer.
Keeping with all things Doug, there will be a celebration of life at Massey Fisherman’s Wharf, 9359 Massey Marina Ln. Dubuque, IA 52003, on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Doug Pluemer memorial fund has been established. Cards may be sent to PO Box 30, Lancaster, WI 53813. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Potosi is entrusted with his services.
