Dorothy M. Taylor, age 92, of Lancaster, died Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born July 4, 1918; the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Van Natta) Cavanaugh.

Dorothy graduated from Platteville High School and then attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque, IA. She married James Arthur Taylor on January 4, 1945. Together they farmed in the Potosi area for many years. Dorothy was a member of Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi. She loved her family and extended families. The family get-togethers were very special to her. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and visiting with her many friends and family. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is her daughter, Margaret (John) Clauer, Lancaster; six grandchildren: Bruce and Jane Clauer, Lancaster; Brian and Sue Clauer, Bagley; Brenda and Dan Reynolds, Potosi; Linda and Greg Stanek, LaValle; Kevin Clauer, Lancaster; and Lisa and Kerry Zenz, Blue Mounds; 16 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; two nephews: Don Wolf and Ervin Schmitz; a niece, Dianne Thorpe; and an sister-in-law, Gertrude Gertie Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on March 14, 2000; her sisters: Velma Schmitz and Edna Wolf; and a nephew and a niece.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Marilyn Hendricks officiating. Burial was in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called from 3:00 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Schwartz Funeral Home and after 12:00 noon on Wednesday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Dorothy M. Taylor memorial fund has been established.
