BLOOMINGTON – Dorothy M. Haas, age 83, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 29. 1941, the daughter of Glen and Margaret (Kelly) Vesperman. Dorothy graduated from Platteville High School in 1959. She was employed at Sherman’s Cheese Factory. On July 1, 1961, Dorothy was united in marriage to Monroe A. Haas at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Together they began farming in rural Cassville on the Francis Haas farm, while Francis served his country in the United States Army. In 1971, Monroe and Dorothy purchased their current farm in Beetown Township. Dorothy enjoyed fishing, baking, cooking, gardening, and raising the calves. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and later, St. Clement Catholic Church. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Monroe; three sons: Dennis, William (Karla), and Michael; three grandsons: Ryan, Robert (Hannah Rupp), and Austin; a brother-in-law, Larry Ellis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Maynard and two sisters, Darlene Ellis and Goldie (Robert “Boots”) Yager.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, Cassville, with Father Gregory Ihm officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
