Dorothy H. Koeller

August 4, 1927 — March 29, 2021

Dorothy H. Koeller, age 93, of Potosi, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 29, 2021 at her home that she resided in since she was 19 years old. She was born on August 4, 1927, in Cassville, the daughter of Herman and Helen (Hampton) Dresen. Dorothy attended Cassville Schools. On September 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Frederick W. "Fred" Koeller in Platteville. After their marriage, the couple farmed the family farm and raised a family. Dorothy enjoyed bowling, quilting, gardening, playing cards, baking, and canning. She was known for her "last jar" of homemade sweet pickles. Dorothy also enjoyed playing marbles and game night with the grandchildren. Her faith was important to her and she was a devoted member of St. Andrew-Thomas Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children: Dianne (Don) Jaworski; Ruth (Dan) Bailey; Janice (Larry) Ploessl; Richard (Cindy) Koeller; a son-in-law, Bill Schmitz; fourteen grandchildren: Brian (Corrine) Jaworski; Jill Anderson; Jason (Jacqueline) Jaworski; Gina (David) Reinhard; Andrew Jaworski; Todd (Anita) Schmitz; Lisa (Brian) Abing; Jessica (Chris) Cauthen; Nicole (Brian) Stafeil; Travis (Trisha) Downs; Thomas (Casey) Downs; Andrea (Jeremy) White; Dan (Danielle) Koeller; Alex (Dani) Koeller; twenty-nine and a half great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Elaine (Jerry) Uppena; a brother, Dennis (Lori) Dresen; a brother-in-law, Wally Butson; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Schmitz, her husband, Fred, and her siblings: LaVern (Hazel) Dresen, Donna (Gordon) Stephens, Arlene Butson, and a sister in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends may call on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of services. Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is entrusted with her care.
