Dorothy A. Fishnick, age 92, of Lancaster, passed away Monday May 2, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Lancaster. She was born April 20, 1924 the daughter of Thomas and Mildred (Hoffman) Carroll. Dorothy graduated from Lancaster High School in 1942. She was united into marriage to Herbert J. Fishnick on September 7, 1950. Dorothy was an office clerk for H.W. Carey, MD. She operated a flower shop and green house from her home. Dorothy was later employed at Grant County Social Services as a benefits specialist in Lancaster, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan (John) Moore; two sons: Vince (Barb) and John (Donna) Fishnick; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings: James (Carol); Walter (Marian); Paul (Joan) Carroll; Rose Mary Thompson; Richard (Sharon "Kip"); Donald (Karen); Lawrence (Susan); Robert (Nancy) Carroll; Kathleen (Dick) Lettman; two sisters-in-law: Mary Ann and June Carroll; many nieces, nephews, and members of the Fishnick family.
In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; a sister, Ruth (Bill) Irwin; two brothers: Roger and Ralph Carroll; two brothers-in-law: Larry Shaw and James Thompson.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Rev. John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Dorothy A. Fishnick Memorial Fund has been established. The Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Lancaster in assisting the family.
