Doris E. Kartman, 95, of Lancaster, WI, entered God's eternal Kingdom on Sunday, May 26th, 2013 at the Lancaster Care Center. Doris was born May 12, 1918 in Steuben, WI, a daughter of George and Cora (O'Brien) LeGeune. She was married to Bernard Kartman and had two children. Doris's hobbies included golf, square dancing, & cooking and baking pies for church functions and potlucks. She enjoyed playing cards and calling bingo at the nursing home for decades, right up to a week before living there herself. Doris was a member of the Catholic Daughters organization for over 50 years. Doris devoted her life in service to her Catholic faith and volunteering at every place possible. She embodied the quote: "All those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer."
Doris is survived by two sisters, Marcella Fuscher and Hazel Crowley, Boscobel, WI; two children, Dean (Flo) Kartman, Pahrump, NV and LeGeune Kartman, Bayonne, NJ; two granddaughters, Christine (David) Hahn, Greenville, WI, and Toni (John) Cagiano, Kissimee, FL; and two great grandsons, Spencer and Blake Hahn, Greenville, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jack, Clyde and Cliff LeGeune; and two sisters, Helen Lostetter and Avonelle Glassbrenner.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the time of service. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
