Donna J. Wolfe, age 80, of Lancaster, died on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Meriter Hospital in Madison with her loving family at her side. She was born on March 28, 1929, in Mt. Ida, WI, the daughter of Leo C. and Luella M. (Haas) Speaker. Donna graduated from Fennimore High School. On November 16, 1948, Donna was united in marriage to Paul Wolfe, Sr. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. She started her job career at Lancaster Memorial Hospital for a few years before helping her husband, Paul run the Midway Tavern in Potosi for over 38 years. They retired in 1995 and enjoyed spending time on the banks of their favorite fishing holes in northern WI. Donna loved to fish, often besting Paul with her catch. She delighted in giving most of her catch to her friends. Seventeen years ago, after suffering a debilitating stroke following aneurysm surgery, Donna continued to enjoy life despite the doctors prognosis. She continued to crochet afghans for grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took pleasure in all wildlife.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Paul Wolfe, Sr., Lancaster; eight children, 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren: Kristine M. (Ronald) Zenz, Bagley and their children, Yvonne (Michael) Piontek, Oakdale, MN, their children, Kaitlynn and Haley; Chad (Paula Nerby) Zenz, Verona, their children, Andrew and Kylie; Regina Zenz, Camp Douglas, Nichole (Todd) Wiest, Cassville, their children, Trae, Jay and Trent Mezera; Heidi (Charles) Williams, Bagley, their children, Skyler, Morgan and Adam; Vanessa Zenz, Bagley, her son, Jacob Meyers; Tyson (Maria) Zenz, El Paso, TX; Aleise (Cyril) Oyen, Potosi, their children, Peter (friend, Jessica Laufenberg) Oyen, Madison, Jennifer (Jamie) Yager, Dubuque, their children, Margaret and Johnathan; Angela (Anthony) Capps, Potosi, their children, Jayden and Journee; Cory (fianc, Trisha Lemieux) Oyen, Richland Center; Paul G. Jr. (Jeanne Berndt) Wolfe, Potosi, their children, Adam, Potosi and Abby (friend, Mason Nemitz); Ann (Thom) Peters, LaFarge, their children, Donna Mae, Rebecca and Pamela, her son, Isaiah Murphy; Jill (Craig) Moldenhauer, Princeton, their children, Cara (Matt) Heagany, Ft. Atkinson, their children, Ethan, Hope, Alyssa and Grant; Cyndi (Richard) Bruchard, Ft. Atkinson, Craig M. Moldenhauer, Madison; Michael (Bonita Reynolds) Wolfe, Dickeyville, their children, Brittany Madison, Kyle, Dickeyville, Michelle and McKenzie, Dickeyville; Mark (Wendy Fowler) Wolfe, Olathe, KS, their son, Mitchell Fowler and Lori (Dexter Lyga) Wolfe, Eau Claire; a sister, LaVon (James) Patzner, Potosi; two brothers: Marshall (Nancy) Speaker, Fort Worth, TX and Mark (Sue) Speaker, Little Rock, AR; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Hugo in 2009 and Warren in 1999.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Family and friends called on Sunday, March 28, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is serving the family. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Cemetery.
