Donald R. Udelhoven, age 77, of Bloomington , died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster . He was born on January 26, 1933 in Hurricane, the son of Ray and Lila ( Duncan ) Udelhoven. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1951 and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Farm and Industry Short Course. Don enlisted in the U. S. Army from 1954 56 and was a PFC stationed stateside in New Orleans , LA. It was there he met and married Carol J. Schwarz on October 10, 1955. Together they have farmed on the Udelhoven family farm in Beetown Township . He was a member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church and the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post #148 of Bloomington .
Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol, of Bloomington; a daughter Karen (Brad) Wells, Mineral Point; two sons: Greg (Beth), Plymouth, MN and Aaron (Heidi), Brooklyn, WI; six grandchildren: Makenzie Wells, Rachael Zimmer, Audra Zimmer, Ryan Udelhoven, Eric Udelhoven and Carly Udelhoven; a son-in-law, Michael Zimmer, Appleton; a brother, Darrell Udelhoven, Bloomington; a sister, Marilyn (Phil) Bouzek, Prairie du chien; a niece, Lisa (Brent) Hutson, Onalaska; and a great-niece, Devan Hutson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Carolyn Zimmer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bloomington United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with Military Honors was held at the Dodge Cemetery , Beetown Township. Friends called on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a Donald R. Udelhoven Memorial Fund has been established.
