DONALD RUMLER, age 88, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. He was born September 6, 1923, in East Moline, IL, to William J. and
Grace (Samuelson) Rumler. Donald married Wilma Becker on January 7, 1942, and they had two sons. Donald married Dolores A. Hill on July 19, 1969, and had one son. Donald is a World War II Veteran. He enlisted in the United States Air Corp. on August 8, 1940, training at Scott Air Force Base in IL; stationed at Denver, CO; Lemoore CA; Mohave Desert; and Madison, in positions from Military Police to Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Donald had a love for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Donald loved to tell jokes and laugh with his brothers and family. He was an avid gardener and loved to raise poodles. "Dolly" will sure miss him. Donald was a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington.

Survivors include: his three sons: D. Wm (Judy) Rumler, Elizabeth, CO; Larry E. (Vicki) Rumler, Moline, IL; Ted (Amy) Rumler, Mt Horeb; eight step-children: Stephen (Erica) Hill, Madison; Barbara (Keith) Bohringer, Waunakee; Sandi (Curt) Mergen, Lancaster; Katherine (Randy) Strang, Cheyenne, WY; Bev (James) Broihahn, Lancaster; Joan
Hill, Madison; Jacqueline (Rick) Clark, Mt Hope; Gerri (Joe) Reuter, Lancaster; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seventeen step-grandchildren; 21 great step-grandchildren; two brothers: Ken (Lois) Rumler and Gary Rumler, all of Illinois.

In addition to his parents and Wilma and Dolores, Donald was preceded in death by five
brothers: William, Harold, Clifford, Robert,
 
Roy Sparky;three sisters: JoAnn, Janice and Juanita; three grandchildren: Todd, Lance and Tracy Rumler.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is serving the family. The family suggests that memorials may be given to the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington.
