LANCASTER – Donald L. Keller, age 84, of Lancaster, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born January 24, 1939, the son of Jesse and Velma (Hickin) Keller. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1957. Donald was employed as an auto mechanic and machinist. He was united in marriage to Marilyn K. Wetter on May 9, 1958, at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Lancaster. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Platteville, earning a degree in Industrial Education in 1965. He became a teacher at the Vo-Tech College in Racine. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, and received his Master’s of Education from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. Donald then taught auto shop at Union Grove High School. After the passing of his father, Jesse, he joined his brother, Bernard, as an independent insurance agent with Keller-Thompson Insurance Agency in Stitzer, Wisconsin, retiring in 2014. He was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church and the Independent Order of Oddfellows. Donald was a voracious reader and enjoyed woodworking, antiquing, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid sports fan of the Lancaster Flying Arrows, UW Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Green Bay Packers. Donald dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn; their children: Dawne (Mark) Suehring, Terry (Naomi) Keller, Heidi (Jeff) Dodge, Heather (Greg) Witt and Robin Keller; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elaine Keller; two brothers-in-law: Lewis and Greg Wetter; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard; a sister, Cheryl (Wilfred) Budack; and a sister-in-law, Diane Wetter.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor David Kim officiating. Burial will be held in the Stitzer United Methodist Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Donald L. Keller memorial fund has been established.
