Donald L. "Whitey" Cliff, age 88, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Madison. He was born on June 13, 1931, in Fennimore, the son of Walter "Waddy" and Lillian (Palmer) Cliff. As a young man, Donald worked various jobs in Lancaster until joining the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge in 1956, Donald returned to live and work in Lancaster until moving to Madison where he started D&D Painting Service with his brother-in-law. They painted several houses and buildings in Madison over the following 20 years. In 1982, Donald returned to Lancaster. Whitey enjoyed going for rides, going out to eat, get togethers with friends, watching the Green Bay Packers, and just having company to talk and joke around with. He loved riding his scooter around town and visiting many of the area businesses. Donald also enjoyed gambling and was a huge lover of animals, especially his many kitties he had over the years. He was a great friend and loved dearly by all who knew him. Whitey will be deeply missed but will carry on in our thoughts and memories forever and will never be forgotten.
Survivors include long time friend and caregiver, Veronica Irish, Lancaster; half-sister, Giselle Letcher, Minnesota; and many close friends.
In addition to his parents, Whitey was preceded in death by two brothers: Wendell and Bobby; a sister, Margie; half-brother, Walter Cliff.
