Dolores Emma Lyons, age 94, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Lancaster Health Services. She was born on February 11, 1929, in La Crosse. Her mother passed away when she was ten. After her mother’s passing, Dolores moved to Lancaster with her older sister, Marie, who raised her. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1947. Dolores immediately started working at Lancaster State Bank, where she worked for 47 years. When she retired in 1994, she had been head bookkeeper for many years. On October 20, 1956, Dolores was united in marriage to Louis Lyons at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. They and their children were active members of St. Clement Catholic Church. Her husband passed away in 1980. Dolores continued to be a dedicated member of the church. She was a long-time member of the church choir and other church groups. After retirement, Dolores enjoyed eating at A&W with friends. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her son and daughter. Dolores also enjoyed many trips with B&B Travel and all the friends she had on those trips.
In addition to her mother and her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Ray, and sister, Marie and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonny Lyons, Madison; her son, Tim Lyons, Shorewood; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many wonderful friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Steve Brunner officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Dolores’s name to an Alzheimer’s organization or for macular degeneration research.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lancaster Health Services and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care and assistance.
