Dolores Pete A. Leibfried, age 83, of Potosi, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, surrounded and comforted by her children. She was born on January 19th, 1931, daughter of Celestine and Emma (Friesen) Winkler. She married Denis Leibfried on August 8th, 1950 at St. Andrew Church in Tennyson and enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Dolores was a homemaker and amazingly raised 10 children with Denis. She was given an award recognizing her tireless efforts as a foster grandparent. She was also a caring provider at the local day care center. Dolores helped organize the St. Andrew Choir with some friends soon after high school and sang in this choir for many years.
Dolores was the most respected, caring, thoughtful and unselfish woman you could ever know. She was selected as the tri-state Mother Of The Year in 1973. Dolores was very witty and could bring you laughing to tears with a quick, short statement. She kept this wonderful, innocent humor all the way to the end.
Her hobbies and interests included planting flowers, gardening, tossing dice, playing cards, bowling and she could throw one heck of a mean bean bag. Dolores enjoyed slot machines, raffles and scratch off tickets...She was one very lucky lady!
Dolores loved all her children and grandchildren very much and mostly loved to watch them play sports.
Those living to pay tribute and remember her wonderful ways are her 10 children: Alan, Duane (Connie Roderick), Terry, Kevin, Denise (Ladder Stelpflug), Chris (Dan Fiedler), Mary (Brad Saunders), Gerry (Tweet), Jane (Shawn O'Brien) and Gary Leibfried. Her memory will live on through 23 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denis Leibfried, her parents, Celestine and Emma Winkler, her sisters, Harriet, Marcella, and Marie; her brothers, Celestine, Maynard and Joe; and grandchildren Kyle and Jeff Leibfried.
