Dixie L. Riley

STITZER – Dixie L. Riley, age 76, of Stitzer, passed away after a long illness on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Lancaster Health Services in Lancaster surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on March 25, 1947, in Lancaster, the daughter of Ervin and Wilma (Reynolds) Hutchcroft.  Dixie graduated from Lancaster High School in 1965.  On July 9, 1966, Dixie was united in marriage to Clement Riley at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster.  After their marriage, the couple moved to Texas where Clement was stationed in the military.  Upon their return to Grant County, Dixie was employed with Loudspeaker Components, LLC for 20 years and Land’s End for 10 years, until she was injured.  Dixie enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, croquet, badminton, volleyball, and king and queens co-ed softball.  She dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and cooking and baking family meals for the holidays. 

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Clement; their children: Laurie Sedbrook and Frank (Dawn) Riley; five grandchildren: Joshua (Kate) Sedbrook, Justin Sedbrook, Ryan (Mary) Sedbrook, Leah (Alex) Chowanec and Hannah (Nick) Seiler; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Patty (John) Metcalf, Ervin Hutchcroft, Angela Arttus, and Stacey Hutchcroft; her in-laws: Mike Riley, Pat (Rita) Riley, Margaret (Dan) Schult, Bridget (Dan) Bollant, and Dee Riley; other relatives and many friends.  

In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Sedbrook; grandson, Peyton Riley; sister, Bonnie (George) Jackering; niece, Clemmie Bollant; in-laws: Nancy Hutchcroft, Robert Arttus, Judy Riley, Bill Riley, Mary Ann (William) Clark, John Riley; her father and mother-in-law, Clem and Thelma Riley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster.  A private family burial will be held at Rock Church Cemetery, Livingston.  In lieu of plants and flowers, a Dixie L. Riley Memorial Fund has been established.
