Diane A. Schultz

PLATTEVILLE- Diane Schultz, age 75, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a seven-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born December 19, 1946, in Illinois to Derrill and Dorothy (Gallagher) Johnston. Diane loved animals and loved to adopt the “unadoptable” older dogs at rescue shelters. She fed all the stray cats in the neighborhood and even two woodchucks who had taken up residence at her home. Throughout her life she owned a bar called Shorty's Tap, a nickname given to her by her father. She ran a nursing home for many years in Genoa City, Wisconsin, and later in life worked at the Platteville Walmart for many years where she made many close friends. Everyone in town knew Diane as she talked to everyone by the dressing rooms who wanted to chat. Her hobbies were feeding her birds, going to resale shops, and eating at the China Buffet in town. She loved working and was sad when her illness forced her to quit. After that between medical treatments she would spend her days sitting on the decks watching the wildlife in the yard.

She is survived by her children: Lisa Hilton, Brian Schultz and Kelly Askin; her grandkids: Brittany Wasicek, Matthew Schultz and Danielle Clicquennoi, Ashley Arneson, Marty Galvan; and great grandkids: Raya Wasicek, Finneus Wasicek, Isabella Clicquennoi, Walker Galvan.

A casual memorial will be held for Diane on October 2nd, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at 905 N 2nd St, Platteville, Wi 53818. Diane said she wanted tacos and drinks for everyone, so that is what we are doing. After a group will head over to Red n Debs for a drink in her honor. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville is assisting the family.
