Dewey Max Valdovinos, age 89 of Bagley, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born near Bloomington, WI, on March 12, 1923, the son of Hilario and Fairy (Bohringer) Valdovinos. He was the second of nine children.
He married Norma Jones on July 7, 1951, at Epworth, IA. Dewey was a veteran of World War II and had been stationed in the South Pacific during the war. He operated the Bagley Sawmill for many years and later in life shared his talent for woodworking by making bluebird houses. Dewey was well known in the Bagley/Bloomington area and his kind gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Norma, Bagley; two daughters, Kathy (Dick) Atkins and Marjie (Tom) Bennett, all of Bagley; two sons, Douglas of Nevada and Daryl (Tina Butler) of Soldiers Grove; three grandchildren: Jesse (Jaye Maxfield) Bennett, Christopher Kivi, and Tanya Valdovinos; four great-grandchildren: Autumn and Leah, Michaela and Tatiana; three sisters: Louise (Bernard) Riggs, Jackson, MI; Mary (Pete) Maiker, Huntsville, AL; and Nancy (Ron) VanNatta, Kalispell, MT; two brothers: Jack (Gail) Valdovinos, City Island, NY, and Dennis (Alietta) Valdovinos, Delta, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carmen and Quentin and a sister, Birdie Hampton.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Friends called on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Dewey M. Valdovinos memorial fund has been established.
