Dennis J. Crubel, age 71, of Bloomington, died on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien. He was born on December 9, 1938, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Marvin and Hilda (Breuer) Crubel. Dennis graduated from Bloomington High School. In 1956, he entered the United States Navy and served his county for four years, stationed for some time in Puerto Rico. On October 13, 1962, Dennis was united in marriage to Brenda Brown at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Bloomington on his familys farm. The Crubel farm was named a century farm in 2010. Dennis enjoyed woodworking, but farming was his passion. He enjoyed lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Dennis collected antique tractors as well as toy tractors. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington and the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington. Dennis loved his family and adored his grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda of Bloomington; their children: Wayne (Sue) Crubel, Sun Prairie; their children: Amy, Tom, Brian, Brenda, and Bonnie; Lisa (Mike) Ellis, Bloomington; their children: Daryl, Kevin, Katrina, and Brittany; Bruce (Jennifer) Crubel, Lancaster; their daughter, Adrienne; Garret Crubel, Prairie du Chien; his sisters: Nancy (Ron) Sturmer, Lancaster; Marilyn (Pete) Mancl, Hewitt; other relatives and many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Monday, September 13, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington and from 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of the arrangements.
