Delores E. Toddy Ames, age 72, of Potosi, died on Monday, February 7, 2011, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 9, 1938, at home, the daughter of Clinton and Edith (Fritz) Russell. Delores graduated from Lancaster High School in 1956. On June 4, 1957, Delores was united in marriage to Udell B. Ames at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lancaster. She babysat many of the neighborhood children before starting to work at Advance Transformer. She was later employed at the Lancaster Care Center. Delores was a member of St. Andrew and St. Thomas Catholic Church and was an avid Cubs and Packer fan. She enjoyed her walks in the park, shopping, gambling, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Udell Ames; one daughter, Linda (Bill) Kress; three sons: Greg (Ginger) Ames, Todd (special friend, Sandy Leibfried) Ames, and Gary (Tammy) Ames; nine grandchildren: Holly (friend, Tim Brockling) Kress, Mitch (Melissa) Kress, Shane (fianc, Val Steffens) Ames, Cody (Brook) Ames, Haley, Tanner, Malorie, Makila, and Abby Ames; three great-grandchildren: Addy, Sophia, and Logan Kress; her mother, Edith Russell; two sisters: Arlene (Norbert) Wieland and Bonnie (Denny) Stluka; many nieces and nephews.
Delores was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, her father, Clinton, her father and mother-in-law, Bert and Gertrude Ames, and brother-in-law, Gernert Ames;.
Funeral services were Friday, February 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township. Family and friends called on Thursday, February 10, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Friday, February 11, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is assisting the family.
