Delores C. Hampton, age 84 of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born December 3, 1932, the daughter of Arthur and Laura (Kelly) Burgraff. Delores graduated from Lancaster High School in 1950. On September 22, 1953, Delores was united into marriage to Norman "Jiggs" Hampton at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. She was a homemaker and raised her seven children. Delores also provided care for many of the area children. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Delores enjoyed traveling, going to the casino and any activity that involved her family. She loved attending any sports activity that her children and grandchildren participated in, especially football and wrestling. As Delores became a resident at Atrium Post Acute Care, she appreciated the staff and their compassion.
Surviving are her children: Mike (Jean), Dennis (Carol), Robert "Buck" (Jackie) Hampton, all of Lancaster, Becky (Douglas) Schildgen, Waterloo, IA, Laurie Hampton of Holmen, Sandy (Gary) Schildgen of Lancaster, and Tami (Bryan) Quinn of Dodgeville, 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a sister, Marita Seitz of Prairie du Chien, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband Norman "Jiggs," a granddaughter, Stephanie Schildgen, a sister, Marcella "Sally" (Robert) Leibfried, two brothers: Norbert (Dorothy "Dot") and Arnold (Delores) Burgraff, a brother-in-law, Frank Seitz.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Private family burial was held at a later date at St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church where a 2:45 p.m. parish rosary was prayed. Friends also called on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Delores C. Hampton Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
