Debra A. Colyer

DUBUQUE, IOWA – Debra Ann Colyer, age 57, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 11, 2023.  She was born on February 25, 1966, in Lancaster, the daughter of Almon and Irene (Jeardeau) Reynolds.  Debra was raised on the family farm between Lancaster and Fennimore.  She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1984.  Debra furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a degree in Business.  In 1988, she married Jeff Landon and they had two boys, Tyler and Trevor.  Debra was employed as a Senior HR Analyst at Lands’ End for 36 years.  On June 3, 2011, she married El Colyer at the Hotel Julien in Dubuque. Debra enjoyed shopping, working in her perennial garden and was an avid cyclist and accomplished bike racer.  She won the 2004 Firehouse 50 Road Race, the most prestigious bike race in the upper Midwest.  Debra also enjoyed trips to her vacation home in Buena Vista, Colorado, and she dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, El Colyer; two sons: Tyler (Rachel) Landon and their children, Levi and Nolan; Trevor (Kaitlin) Landon and their children, Brantley and Sophie; her stepsons: Josh (Aimee) Colyer and their children, Isaiah and Alina; Jon and David Colyer; her brothers: Bob (Barb) Reynolds and Bill (Karen) Reynolds; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents Almon and Irene, her mother and father-in-law, and her best friend Sandi Grimm.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating.  Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster.  Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
