David R. Riniker, age 71, left this earth on the fourteenth day of July, 2011, to be with God, the love of his life, Marjorie, and a son Davey, whom he has missed for many years. David was born on December 4, 1939, the son of Jacob and Florance (Schmidt) Riniker in Galena, IL. He married Marjorie Buscher on September 5, 1959, at Holy Ghost Church, Dubuque, IA. David was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, who enjoyed hunting, swimming, and watching classic Western movies. He farmed near Ellenboro and has been enjoying retirement after thirty-five years of service at the John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 2004, and his son, Davey, who died at the age of thirteen in 1977.
Survivors include his children: Michelle (Dennis) Donar, Bloomington; Jayne (Melvin) Boebel, Deerfield; Susan (Ernest) Marquez, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Sandra (Shane) Johnson, Great Bend, KS; and Dan Riniker, Mt. Hope; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A celebration of David's life took place with a potluck in Eagle Point Park in Dubuque, at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011. Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington is assisting the family.
