David J. Campbell, of Riverview, FL, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 25, 2008, at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1949, in Lancaster, the son of Harlan and Catherine (Briel) Campbell. David graduated from Bloomington High School in 1967. He received his Bachelors of Sociology from University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1971. David later received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington, St. Louis, MO, in 1973. In 1975, he founded the Osceola Mental Health Agency. The agency continues to serve children and adults in the Florida communities of Kissimmee and St. Cloud with behavioral health issues. David served as the Executive Director and for the following twenty-five years, oversaw the growth and expansion of a plethora of services and programs to anyone in need.
He is survived by his perfect daughter, Catherine Kitty Campbell, and wife, Rochelle, both of Potosi; his most beloved sister, Julie (Dan) Hermsen, Bloomington; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan, Catherine Mason, and Clive Pete Mason.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul Liberty Ridge Church with Rev. Martin Yeager officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Ridge Cemetery. Friends called on Sunday, September 7, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
