David D. Lefeber

David D. Lefeber, age 64, of Cassville, died on Wednesday, June 08, 2011, at his home in Cassville. He was born on June 22, 1946, in Johnsburg, the son of Leo and Adeline (Sabel) Lefeber. Dave graduated from New Holstein High School. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville graduating with a degree in elementary education. Dave was a teacher at Potosi for thirty-two years, retiring in 2001. He integrated his love for the outdoors into the classroom. Dave was instrumental in the outdoor education program and developing nature areas and a courtyard, which he used to educate many students. He was a hands on teacher. On May 18, 1968, Dave was united in marriage to Gretchen Stoehr at St. Patricks Church in Fond du Lac. In 1971, they purchased a farm in Waterloo Township, where he has resided until his death. Dave obtained a Masters Degree in 1975. On April 13, 1985, Dave was united in marriage to Ruth Stern at Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi. Dave was a scout leader for over twenty years. He was an avid outdoorsman. Dave enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. He was a master horticulturalist as well as a master breeder and a nationally recognized breeder of breed standard Wyandotte show chickens. Dave was a humanitarian and had a passion for all he did in life. His greatest love was his family; he truly enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lefeber, Cassville; his children: Chad (Charlie) Lefeber, Blue River; Dana (Matt) Kiederlen, Whitewater; Jeanna (Gary) Grahl, Sturgeon Bay; Judd (Jen) Lefeber, Watertown; Ronna Lefeber, Platteville; Wade Lefeber, Cassville; ten grandchildren: Mujaahid, Andrea, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Cierra, Rylee, Isabella, Abigail, Moriah and Brant; three great-grandchildren; six brothers and three sisters.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents.

To honor Daves wishes, there was no services. Dave and his family appreciate those who attended his Celebration of Life Services that were held Sunday, June 5, 2011. Burial will be at a later date. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is assisting the family.
