BLOOMINGTON - David C. Leamy, age 78, and Shirley R. (Adrian) Leamy, age 74, of Bloomington passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at their home surrounded by their children. David was born on December 18, 1945, the son of Eugene “Gene” and Marie (Hermsen) Leamy. Shirley was born on August 16, 1949, the daughter of Francis and Pearl (Donaldson) Adrian. David and Shirley were married on November 4, 1967, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI. Together they raised four children: Kimberly, Stacy, Sherri, and Daniel.

After graduating Bloomington High School, David was employed at Hermsen’s Hardware then began farming with his father Gene and brother Jim on the Leamy Bros. Farm. The farm brought David pride and joy where he was privileged to work with his best friend and brother, Jim until his death in 2018. In 1989 lightning struck the dairy barn and Jim and David made the decision to sell their dairy herd. Leamy Bros. Farm was recognized as a Century Farm in 1998. David and Jim then decided to do custom crop and combining until retirement. David also worked for Bloomington Township serving as the Chairman of the Board, Price Equipment, and Fischer Dairy. He was a fun-loving man and a great neighbor. David was willing to help anyone. He was active with the Blake’s Prairie Jr. Fair Board for several decades. David also served on the St. Mary’s Parish Council.

Shirley was a proud homemaker raising her family. She served as a Teacher’s Aide at the Bloomington Schools. In 1997, David and Shirley, with their son Dan, co-owned and operated Danny’s Ace of Clubs Supper Club in Bloomington. You could also find Shirley helping at Ma’s Bakery in Bloomington. She loved to cook and bake, trying new recipes and sharing her creations with family, friends, and neighbors. Shirley was willing to lend a helping hand to many in need throughout her life. She was active with the Blake’s Prairie Jr. Fair Board for several decades. Shirley took great pleasure in helping at the food pantry in Patch Grove.

Survivors include their four children: Kimberly (Bryan) Martens, Stacy (Greg) Martin, Sherri Leamy and Danny Leamy; the pride and joy of their life, their four grandchildren: Torin (Ally Leibert) Mumm, Tamara (Kyle) Thorsen, Mahcoy Mumm, and Ian Martin; four great-grandchildren: Dominic, Holiday & Kari Thorsen and Lilith Mumm; David’s sister, Mary Jean Kusick; Shirley’s sister and brother, Donna Theisen and Ronald (Laurie) Adrian; sister-in-law, Virginia Leamy and brother-in-law, Harold Lenz; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
