Darrell E. Udelhoven, age 84, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully as his loving heart stopped on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse, WI. He was born in Beetown Township, on December 8, 1934, the son of Ray and Lila (Duncan) Udelhoven. Darrell graduated from Bloomington High School and served his country in the United States Army stationed in Ft. Leonardwood, MO. He enjoyed hunting and would reload his own rifle shells. Darrell was a faithful fan of Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers sports. He raised, showed, and did trial competitions with his fox hounds. Darrell established the Wisconsin Fox Hound Association and was the secretary/treasurer for the Wisconsin State Fox and Wolf Hunters Association. He raised and showed purebred Angus cattle with his father and brother on the home farm. Darrell worked in Minneapolis, MN, for a short time, then to California where he sold insurance. He later moved to Oklahoma where he had a refrigeration-heating and air conditioning business. While in Oklahoma Darrell also took broadcast schooling. In 1992, he retired and moved back to the family farm with his father where he kept busy always researching material, learning, and working with people through his websites. Darrell loved mankind and his country. He was always concerned and had hopes for humanity and for a better life for the common man.
Survivors include his sister, Marilyn (Phil) Bouzek, Prairie du Chien; nieces: Lisa (Brent) Hutson, Onalaska; Karen (Brad) Wells, Mineral Point; nephews: Greg (Beth) Udelhoven, Plymouth, MN; Aaron (Heidi) Udelhoven, Brooklyn, WI; and a great-niece, Devan Hutson, Onalaska.
Darrell was preceded in death by his mother in 1992; his father in 1994; his brother in 2010; sister-in-law in 2016; and a niece in 1997.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Michael Calloway officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
