Curtis I. Bradley

September 5, 1950 — January 11, 2025

Platteville

Platteville – Curtis I. Bradley, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. Born on September 5, 1950, in Lancaster, WI, to Leo and Ivanelle Bradley, Curt was the fourth of five children. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1968 and served in the Army National Guard from 1970-76. On July 3, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart Jeanette M. Stymiest. Their romance bloomed at the local A&W, where Curt was a cook and Jean a carhop. Once married, they started a home and family in Platteville, where they raised their four children. Throughout his life, Curt worked in retail and sales, retiring from Mound View Motors. He made many connections through his career in Platteville and was respected for his humor and honesty, earning countless loyal customers and friends along the way. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, and camping. He had a knack for great cooking and was always checking the Sunday papers for a new recipe to try. As a member of Elks Lodge #1460, he cooked his famous steaks and pork chops for Friday night crowds which were affectionately dubbed “Curt Steak Nights.” Curt stayed busy after retirement working part-time at Menard’s, walking his favorite dog (Lily), and spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. One of his favorite pastimes, of course, was spending time on his living room couch watching Packers football with family and friends. Always the life of the party, Curt was known for his razor-sharp humor.

Curt is survived by his wife Jean and their four children: Chris (Amber) Bradley, Joel (Jennifer) Bradley, Nick (Melanie) Bradley, and Sarah (Jeremy) Bradley. Siblings: Dennis (Karen) Bradley and Phyllis (Donald) Duncan and numerous nieces and nephews. Curt was a proud Papa to: Acadia, Teagan, Bevin, Bannon, Aibhlinn, Ava, Jade, Norah, Nolan, Jordan, and Joslyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry (Connie) Bradley and sister Dorene Bradley.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. A memorial service at 11:00 officiated by Pastor Mark Hoehne will follow.
