Clayton L. Fischer, age 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. He was born in Woodman Township on November 19, 1934, the son of John and Ruth (Koenig) Fischer. Even though Clayton had challenges, he supported himself by working for area farmers and then at the cheese factory in Fennimore until his retirement. On February 14, 1991, Clayton married the love of his life, Linda Towsley. They lived in Stitzer for many years until moving to Lancaster. Clayton was a tinkerer and was always cobbling something up.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; five brothers: Lyle (Joyce), Blanchardville; Leary (Maurice), Mt. Hope; Sidney (Betty), Lancaster; Jerry and Lonny (Laurayne) all of Boscobel; a sister: Judy (Harold) Schuppner, Cassville; many nieces and nephews.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nancy, sisters-in-law, Sheri Fischer and Carol Olson.
Funeral services were on Monday, December 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison St., Lancaster, with Reverend Ty Hines officiating. Burial was in the Stitzer Lutheran Cemetery, Stitzer. Family and friends called on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
