Clarence B. Seng, age 96, of Potosi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 10, 1919, the son of Leopold and Mary (Scanlan) Seng in Potosi. Clarence married Irene Abing on October 22, 1946, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. He was a humble man who took pride in his family and making an honest living farming. Clarence was a member of the Cassville School Board, the People's Oil Board, and St. Thomas Parish Council. He was a man of deep faith and enjoyed helping others in need. Clarence enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards and traveling. His greatest joy was his family.
Clarence will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Irene; four children: Brenda Brandt, Onalaska; Terry (Joyce) Seng, Platteville; Lisa (Gary) Meyer, Dubuque, IA; Neil Seng, Potosi; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his brothers, Ambrose, Walter, Oswald, and Leonard Seng; sister, Alberta Patzner and son-in-law, Dennis Brandt.
To honor his life, a Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Family and friends called on Sunday, March 29, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, where a 3:45 p.m. parish rosary was held. Friends also called on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials will be given to various charitable organizations. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is assisting the family.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Orchard Manor for their kindness and dedicated care given to Clarence.
