Charles W. “Chuck” Pohle age 86, of Lancaster, WI, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Chuck was born on April 21, 1925, in Bloomington, WI, the son and last surviving child of Harley and Lutie (Edwards) Pohle.

After his mother’s tragic death in 1927, Chuck went to live with his uncle and aunt, Ervie and Minnie (Taylor) Edwards. He made his home with them through school and then entered the service in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and returned home in 1947. After the service, Chuck enjoyed a variety of employment working as a farm hand, driving milk trucks, semis, auto transport, and working for Marshall Stockyard and Lumber. His later years were spent working for Chuck and Janis Yoose at the feeder pig barn; where he was honored as older worker of the year in 1998. In 2004, he went to make his home at the Lancaster Care Center. Chuck enjoyed his years there renewing friendships, making new friends, feeding the birds and squirrels, and tending his beloved Brandi – the little Chihuahua who spent many days with him. Chuck will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Martin Funeral Home, 111 S. Tyler St., Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Beetown Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Charles W. Pohle memorial fund has been established.
