Charles Edge

Charles L. Edge, age 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on January 12, 1943, in Platteville, the son of Gerald and Loretta (McPhail) Edge. Charles attended Platteville Schools. He worked for local farmers and lived and worked in Rockford, IL, for several years. Charles later went to Washington and Colorado before moving to Lancaster where he painted and restored old homes. Charles enjoyed having coffee with friends, playing cards, gambling, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his son, Clinton (Sara Vicencio) Edge; three grandchildren: Xavier, Gabrielle, and Camryn; his siblings: Geraldine (Richard) Kuhls; Irene (Gene) Clark; Grant (Mary Lou) Edge; and Carolyn Kane.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Edge and his sisters, Georgina Drew and Lynn Lawrence.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral homes.
