POTOSI - Celine M. Stohlmeyer, 83, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster, WI, surrounded by her loving family. Celine (Ryan) Stohlmeyer was born on April 14, 1935, in Otter Creek, IA, the daughter of Michael and Ella (Malone) Ryan. Celine graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque, IA, in 1953. For a short time, she was a surgical technician at Mercy Hospital. On April 11, 1955, Celine was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Stohlmeyer at Assumption Church, Sylvia Switch, IA. Hank preceded her in death on April 28, 2017. Celine and Hank lived most of their lives together in Potosi, WI. Celine was a stay-at-home mom for many years before becoming a CNA at Orchard Manor Nursing Home for over 20 years. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. Get-togethers with family and friends to play cards or go gambling and the annual Ryan/Laughlin Family Reunion were special times for Celine to enjoy her and Hank’s friends, siblings and their families. Celine was 100% Irish and St. Patrick’s Day was her favorite holiday! In honor of this, the family is requesting that everyone that is able to attend her wake and/or funeral wear something green. Celine was a beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend who was respected and loved for her generous heart, loving spirit, and contagious smile.
Surviving Celine are her son, Steven (Cheryl) Stohlmeyer; daughters: Stacey (Bruce) Gardiner and Susan Stohlmeyer; her grandchildren: Tiffany Sarnowski, Tim Stohlmeyer, Tyler Stohlmeyer, Tia Stohlmeyer, Beth (Nicholas) Gladis, Brooke Gardiner, and Jacob Schmitt; her great-grandson, Caleb Gladis; her sisters: Rosalee Donahue, Joyce Till, and Leann Laughlin; and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Loras Collins, Mildred Ryan, Michael (Elizabeth) Stohlmeyer, Harold (Mary Pat) Stohlmeyer, Eva Lyons, Pauline “Teenie” Wiezorek, Sandy Stohlmeyer, William (Mary Ellen) Stohlmeyer, and Mary Ann (Bob) Durst; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her husband and parents, Celine was preceded in death by her infant daughter Sandra Stohlmeyer; siblings: Joseph, in infancy, Francis (Veronica) Ryan, Marie (Orville) Manderscheid, Celestine (Leo) Laughlin, Marcella (Ves) Bonifas, Catherine Collins, Monica (Laverne) Boge, Leonard Ryan, and Lucille (Lonnie) Clark; her mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Evelyn Stohlmeyer; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Powers; and her brothers-in-law: John Donahue, Lorin Till, Joseph “Bimp” Stohlmeyer, Paul Stohlmeyer, Thomas Lyons, and Edward Wiezorek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, WI, with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, IA. Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, WI, where a 3:45 p.m. rosary will be prayed. Family and friends may also call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Our hearts overflow with sincere praise, gratitude and appreciation to the administration and entire staff of Orchard Manor for all the quality care, loving compassion and abundant kindness shown to Celine and our family over the years. You are truly angels on earth! The Stohlmeyer family would also like to extend a sincere heartfelt thank you to all of our extended family and friends who have supported us spiritually, emotionally and physically through these difficult years.
