Catherine M. Frear

 Catherine M. Frear, age 93, of  Lancaster, formerly of Potosi, died on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Morningside Assisted Living in  Lancaster after a brief illness. She was born on March 3, 1916, the daughter of Loren and Bessie (Korber) Crapp in rural  Potosi. Catherine married Earl E. Frear on June 5, 1943. Together they farmed in the  Potosi area.

Catherine enjoyed hand sewing quilts for her family, gardening and cooking. She was a member of Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in  Potosi where she played piano as a young girl. Catherine enjoyed her time as Sunday School Superintendent and was active in the Ladies Aid.

Catherine is survived by four children: Martha Frear, Madison, Mary Macke, Albany, Dwight (Mary) Frear, Lancaster and George (Ruth) Frear, Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren, Wade (Sara) Frear, Greg (Donnelle) Frear, Henry Frear and Kathleen (Jason) Kilgore; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Nelson, Boulder, CO, many friends and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl on  Dec. 29, 1982; her parents; and an infant daughter.

A public visitation was held on  Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in  Lancaster. A private family service was held on Wednesday, March 25. Burial was held in  Boice Prairie Cemetery, Potosi Twp.
