Catherine Leibfried, age 104, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at her home. She was born on February 16, 1907, at home in South Lancaster Township, the daughter of Martin and Mary (Dressler) Reynolds. Catherine attended Hurricane School and also St. Clement School during the winter. On November 16, 1925, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Leibfried at St. Clement Catholic Church. Catherine wallpapered many homes and was also employed at Schwartz Phillips Hardware Store as well as Montgomery Ward Catalog. She and her husband owned and operated Creekwood Farms in Lancaster. Catherine was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court of St. Rita No. 670. She dearly loved raising her family and devoted herself to them. Catherine enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, baking, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her four daughters: Helen (Donovan) Krohn, Verona; Joan (Leonard) Stitch, Morrisville, PA; Katie (Larry Laker Schildgen) Schindler, and Mary (Rodger) Janssen, all of Lancaster; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Catherine was preceded in death by two sons: Robert and Thomas; a brother, Herman Butch Reynolds; two sisters: Clara Reynolds and Theresa Ludwig; granddaughter, Sharon Krohn; a nephew, Roger Ludwig; and a special daughter-in-law, Sally Leibfried.

Funeral services were on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Friday, October 7, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Catherine E. Leibfried Memorial Fund has been established with contributions being given to Grant County Hospice and  Schreiner Memorial Library for the purchase of audio books. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
