Carson C. Alcorn, age 71, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13th 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 25, 1944, the son of Clyde Bennett and Alverda Susan (Vesperman) Alcorn. Carson attended Bowen Country School, near the family farm, and graduated from Lancaster High School. While working at the Lancaster State Bank (M&I and now BMO Bank) he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking and over time became Director and Senior Vice President.
Carson married Dorothy M. "Dottie" Bakken on July 12th, 1975 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Together they raised their two children, Aaron & Terrissa and enjoyed working together (especially on the farm), traveling and socializing with extended family and friends.
Carson loved telling jokes and his quick wit helped create a strong community where he helped organize the Lancaster Community, Hospital & Scholarship Funds. His passion for helping others led him to serve on the Lancaster Housing Authority, Southwest Tech Financial Advisory Board, American Foreign Exchange for Students, Lancaster Chamber Ambassadors, Jaycees, and the United Way. He was very active in his faith through his involvement in the Lancaster United Methodist Church, Shared Ministry Committee, & the Council of Ministries. Carson didnt stop there and volunteered his time to the Grant County Fairgrounds & Livestock for more than 30 years! During retirement, he became a personal financial advisor for many people.
Carson is preceded in death by his parents and son Arik Carson. He is survived by his wife, Dottie, their children: Aaron Breck (wife Tami Jo) & Terrissa Lynn Alcorn. He will also be missed dearly by his three grandchildren: Alexandra May, Arik Carl and Adam Carson Alcorn, and members of the Bakken family.
Funeral services were on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Barb Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 3:00 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Carson Alcorn Memorial Fund has been established. Schwartz Funeral Home of Lancaster is assisting the family.
