Carmella A. Eddy, age 98, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Williams Bay. She was born August 27, 1917, in Mineral Point, one of ten children to Italian immigrants Joseph and Victoria (Bertucci) Filardo. Carmella proudly carried her Italian heritage with her always. After high school, she attended Spenserian Business College in Milwaukee. Carmella married Donald L. Eddy on June 28, 1941, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. She was employed as the administrative assistant to the superintendent of the Lancaster school district. Carmella was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church for over 70 years. She enjoyed time at the cabin in Cassville, her card club, walking, reading, and the Green Bay Packers. Don and Carmella were Lancaster Circulation Managers for the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times for over 35 years. She dearly loved keeping up with her family and many cherished friends.
Survivors include two sons: Robert (Barbara) Eddy in Brookfield, James Eddy in Lake Geneva; two daughters: Kathleen (Paul) Yih in Williams Bay, and Mary (Frank) Winingham in Delavan; 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Carmella was preceded in death by her husband, Donald of 67 years; and a grandson, Anthony; her siblings: Frank, Nick, Roseland, Mary, Katherine, Joseph and Bruno.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church with Father William Seipp and Father Herbert Schmidt officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
