Carl D. Blindert

POTOSI – Carl D. Blindert, age 85, of Potosi, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 1, 1938, the son of Harold and Bernadette (Klar) Blindert. Carl attended St. Andrew Catholic School in Tennyson. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., and was honorably discharged. On June 11, 1957, Carl married the love of his life Dorothea A. Patcle at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. Together they owned the Potosi Yacht Club from 1983 to 2001. Carl was employed at Dubuque Pack for over 27 years and was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the Lancaster Golf Course and played league. Carl was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and shooting trap. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. Carl liked a good game of euchre and golfing down south. He had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

 Survivors include his children: Carla (Larry) Groom, Rod (Anita) Blindert, Marilyn, Bob (Marsha), and Scott Blindert; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, with one on the way; siblings: Harry Blindert, Ann Klein and Doug (Pat Valentine) Blindert, many nieces, nephews, and members of the Patcle family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Dorothea; a son: Rocky; and a grandson: Brad Welter; and members of the Blindert and Patcle family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi with Fr. Mark Miller officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Potosi. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is assisting the family.
