Calvin C. Bud Knapp, age 89, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. He was born on October 1, 1924, in Little Grant Township, the son of Clarence and Belva (Jeidy) Knapp. Calvin graduated from Bloomington High School in 1942. On March 17, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dolores R. Stoney at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Burton. After their marriage, the couple farmed the family farm in Little Grant Township. Calvin drove school bus for Lancaster Community Schools for nineteen years. He was a charter member of the West Grant Saddle Club and the Badger Quarter Horse Association. Calvin was a member of the 4-H Adult Leaders, Hampshire Sheep Breeders Association, Wisconsin Sheep Producers, Southwest Regional High School Rodeo and Wisconsin High School Rodeo. He was a superintendent for the Grant County Fair and Blakes Prairie Junior Fair and served as a trustee for the Grant County Livestock Trust. Calvin was active in showing his Hampshire Sheep at county and state fairs, and National Livestock Show in Louisville, KY. In 2013, he won Supreme Champion Ram at the North American International Livestock Show.

Calvin dearly loved his family and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in sporting events and traveling to many National High School Rodeos to support them.

Survivors include his sons: Roger (Carolyn White-Knapp); Tom (Jann); Gale (Cheryl) Knapp; his daughters, Jolene (Mike) Junk, Sarah (fianc Steve Irish) White; Lonna (fianc Rob Nelson) Kwallek; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Wava Curnow; daughter-in-law, Karen (Bob) Bedward; son-in-law, Roy Mumm; sister-in-law, Marie Stoney; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, son, Douglas, daughter, Dawne Mumm, brothers-in-law, Wes Curnow and Clarence Stoney; and a sister-in-law, Opal (Paul) Bartels.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Little Grant Cemetery, Little Grant Township. Family and friends called on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Calvin C. Knapp Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.
