Bonnie L. Stluka, age 67, died on Monday, September 23, 2013, at her residence in Potosi. She was born on October 19, 1945, in rural Potosi, the daughter of Clinton and Edith (Fritz) Russell. On July 14, 1973, Bonnie was united in marriage to Dennis Stluka at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She attended rural schools of Sinners Creek and Elmdale. Bonnie graduated from Lancaster High School, the University of Wisconsin at Platteville, and Saint Marys University of Minnesota. Bonnie taught second grade for forty-four years at Winskill Elementary School in Lancaster. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching all her students. Bonnie told them they were her children for the school year. Bonnie loved working in her yard and garden, especially caring for her beautiful lilies. She loved her dog, Winzor, two cats, Blackie and Tiger, and horse, Rebel.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis; her mother, Edith Russell; a sister, Arlene (Norbert) Wieland, a brother-in-law, Udell Ames, her aunts, and many nieces and nephews; her guardian angels and caregivers, Bonnie and Kenny Curran.
In addition to her father Clinton, Bonnie was preceded in death by a brother, Larry and her oldest sister, Delores Toddy Ames.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Burton Cemetery, Burton. Family and friends called on Tuesday, September 24, 2103, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Bonnie L. Stluka Memorial Fund has been established.
