Beulah L. "Bea" Simpson, age 96 was called home to be with our lord on Thursday, January 22, 2015 with her daughters by her side at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born November 14, 1918 in Beetown Township, the daughter of August and Edna (Shanley) Christensen. Bea married Sidney Simpson on June 15, 1934 in Dubuque. They lived in and around the Lancaster area, and after many years of farming, they moved to Lancaster. She worked at the D & D store for over twelve years. Bea and Sidney enjoyed taking trips and camping with their grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, ducks, and going for rides in the car. Bea loved time spent with her family. She was a member of Calvary Community Church in Lancaster.
Surviving is her two daughters, Rose (Keith) Bryhan and Gloria (Bob) Giesen; two daughter-in-laws, Agnes and Marita Simpson, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Sidney, Bea was preceded in death by her sons Ed and Philip, four brothers, John, George, Neal and Virgil Christensen, a sister Geneive and a great granddaughter, Sarah Bryhan.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Community Church in Lancaster, with Pastor Dave Arevalo officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Lancaster is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Beulah L. Simpson memorial fund has been established.
