Betty R. Snyder, age 92, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 1, 1932, in Ellenboro, the daughter of Bill and Phyllis (Hinson) Funk. Betty graduated from Lancaster High School. She was united in marriage to Monroe Snyder on December 26, 1953, after his return from serving in the Korean War. Betty loved to work and was passionate about enjoying life with Monroe, family and friends. She was always ready for fishing, camping, traveling, snowmobiling, eating out, playing cards, being with their daughter Peggy and her husband Jim Warren. Betty’s last years were spent at Morningside Assisted Living and Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. Grant County Hospice also cared for Betty. She was loved and cared for by all the care workers and her family is so grateful for each smile, encouraging word, and detail given to her care.
Survivors include her daughter Peggy (Jim) Warren; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her two sisters, twins, Sharon (Jack) Gruender and Karen (Larry) Kane; her brother, Bobby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis (Gifford) Huffman and Bill Funk, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley (RaeAnn) and Mandel (Millie) Funk; her sister, Mary (Matt) Frye and her husband of 66 years, Monroe.
A private service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Private family burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
A special thank you to Betty’s two sisters for their love and care for Betty through these last difficult years, to her brother Bobby who faithfully visited, and to each of you who sent a card or stopped by for a visit. Betty loved people.
