Betty M. Gardiner

 Betty M. Gardiner, age 93, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster. She was born on August 21, 1919, in   Baldwinsville,  NY, the daughter of Mark and May (Seger) Peckham. Betty graduated from high school in 1937. Upon graduation, she was employed at an ammunition plant during World War II. In 1945, Betty was united in marriage to George Gardiner at Victor, NY. To this union, three children were born: Charles, Jeanie, and George, Jr. In 1955, the couple purchased a farm in Cattaraugus, NY, where they operated a dairy farm for sixteen years. During retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling. They were camp hosts at a National Forest campground in Florida. In 1993, Betty and George moved to Lancaster.

George preceded her in death on  August 31, 2006. Betty loved critters of all kinds.

Survivors include her children: Charles (Mary) Gardiner, East Otto, NY; Jeanie (Clarence) Pagett, Cattaraugus, NY; George (Pam) Gardiner, Lancaster; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Peckham.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Services is serving the family.
