Betty J. Kuenster, age 87, of Lancaster, died on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on December 16, 1924, in Lancaster, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Kruel) Lacke. Betty graduated from Lancaster High School in 1941. On August 5, 1944, she was united in marriage to Julius Doc Kuenster at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple raised a family and owned and operated a veterinarian clinic in Lancaster. They also raised Brussels Griffon puppies. Betty was very active in the church. In 1966, she and Helen Droessler were instrumental in establishing the food service at St. Clement Catholic Church. In 1971, Betty and Doc moved to Cassville to their home on the river. In 1990, the couple returned to Lancaster. Betty enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Jolly Dollies. She was a member of St. Clement and St. Charles Catholic Churches. Betty loved to cook and enjoyed hosting wedding receptions at the Sand Bar for several years.
Survivors include her children: Mary Ann Myers, Lancaster; Kristin (Ronald) Infield, Cassville; Margaret Bublitz, Lancaster; and Jerry Kulas, Kim Gibson, Kathryn, Karla and Julie Kuenster; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dolores Ralph, Patricia (Ed) Steinhoff, and Roselynn Kedding; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and a son-in-law, Roger Myers.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is serving the family.
