Bernilda Britt

Bernilda L. Britt, age 81, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. She was born on July 29, 1933, in Cassville Township, the daughter of Lawrence and Lila (Kirschbaum) Wiest. In 1951, Bernilda graduated from Cassville High School and moved to Dubuque, IA, where she was employed at Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing. It was there that she met Paul Britt and they were married on May 17, 1958, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dubuque. In 1984, she and Paul purchased Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing. Paul passed away in 1992 and Bernilda continued to operate the company until her retirement in 2000.

Survivors include her two brothers: Dennis and Gary Wiest and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernilda was preceded in death by two brothers: Julius and Maurice Wiest and three sisters: Marena Bushbom, Geraldine Bartels and Virginia Williams.

Private family services were held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. There was no visitation. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bernilda L. Britt Memorial Fund. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family.
