Bernice M. Vogt, age 82, of Cassville, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Bernice was born on May 14, 1929 in Cassville, the daughter of Nick and Rose (Brinkman) Esser. She graduated from Cassville High School. On November 20, 1947, Bernice was united in marriage to Paul J. Vogt at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Glen Haven area. Bernice enjoyed gardening and working on the farm. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. In 1989, they moved to Cassville. Bernice was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. She enjoyed cleaning, cooking, baking and was known for her pineapple fluff. Bernice also enjoyed walking. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include seven sons: Ronald (Sheila) Vogt, Verona; Dale Vogt, Eau Claire; Mo (Laurie) Vogt, Bagley; Roger (Jeanie) Vogt, Rodney (Mary) Vogt, Randy Vogt and Brian (Dawn) Vogt, all of Glen Haven; twenty grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Florence Ley, Charles Esser, Delores (Larry) Houghton, Gerry (Ambrose) Mumm, Donald (Barb) Esser, and Darlene (Mike) Schauff, all of Cassville.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Charlene, a son, Thomas, two grandsons, Timothy and David and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Marie Vogt.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is serving the family.
