Bernadean DiVall

Bernadean J. DiVall, age 99, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on October 18, 1916, the daughter of Faye and Nellie (Henry) Johnson. Bernadean graduated from Platteville Normal College and was a school teacher at Liberty Ridge Country School. She married John B. DiVall on June 18, 1937, at Liberty Ridge Church in rural Lancaster. Together they farmed the DiVall Family farm in North Lancaster Township. During tax season, Bernadean prepared many filings while working at McIntyre Kinney, Urban and Kussmaul Law Offices in Lancaster. She served on the former Lancaster Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and was a member of the Lancaster Congregational Church.

Survivors include a son, Gary (Sunny) DiVall; seven grandchildren; 15 great-children; one great-great-granddaughter; and many members of the Johnson and DiVall families.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; a son, James "Jim" (Janelle) Divall; a grandson, Jeffrey Divall.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers a Bernadean J. DiVall Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
