Belva J. Laufenberg, 76, Mt. Hope, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1935, in Wyalusing Township, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Clark) Ward. Belva graduated from Bloomington High School. On June 28, 1954, she was united in marriage to Carl Laufenberg at St. Lawrence OToole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope. After their marriage, the couple raised four daughters in Mt. Hope, where they have resided for the past 57 years. In 1979, Belva began employment as a cook at the West Grant School and remained there until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, fishing, and playing marbles and cards. Belvas greatest passion was her family. She loved spending time with her immediate as well as extended family and looked forward to family get-togethers. Belva was a member of St. Lawrence OToole Catholic Church and was also a member of a bowling league in Prairie du Chien.
Survivors include her loving husband, Carl Laufenberg, Mt. Hope; three daughters, Vickie (Greg) Heiar, Berlin; Sharon (Todd Yeomans) Morgan, Prairie du Chien; Ruth (Thad) McIntosh, Prairie du Chien; six grandchildren, Nicholas Morgan, Correne (Randy) Martin, Miranda (Jermicah) Jackson, Douglas Heiar, Kylie McIntosh, and Devin McIntosh; two great-grandchildren, Anton and Joselynn Jackson; one sister, Irene Ferris, Madison; a sister-in-law, Virginia Ward, Bloomington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Belva was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty; her sisters and brother, Marion Gilstrap, Earl Ward and Doris Stanflley.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Lawrence OToole Cemetery, Mt. Hope. Family and friends called on Thursday, January 5, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington where a 3:45 p.m. scripture service will be held. Friends may also call on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services at St. Johns Catholic Church, Patch Grove.
