Bedell A. (Poole) Mezera, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born on May 18, 1924, in Boaz, WI, the daughter of Miller and Mini Pearl Hendricks. Bedell graduated from Richland Center High School and later married Fame Poole on January 26, 1946. Together they had six children. They farmed for a short time in Richland County. They later moved to Milwaukee, where they resided until Fame's retirement from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 1980. They returned to the area and settled in Prairie du Chien.
Survivors include one son, Robert Poole, Milwaukee; three daughters: Judy Szuta, Prairie du Chien, Rebecca Hicks (Bill), Milwaukee; Goldie Miatech, Prairie du Chien; daughter-in-law, Diane Poole, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Bedell was preceded in death by her husband, Fame, Sr., two sons, Fame, Jr., and Richard; two sisters, two nephews, a granddaughter, a grandson, and a great-grandson.
As per Bedell's wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life at Lawler Park on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in Prairie du Chien. Private family burial at Basswood Cemetery will be at a later date. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Bloomington is assisting the family.
